Healthy Habits: Pineapple snacking

On my get-a-healthier-lifestyle journey, one of the main things that I'm attempting to do is to try and replace the unhealthy snacks with healthier options. Of course, I'll still have my summer ice-cream and popcorn and other things I enjoy - because we gotta live a little- , but for the most part I try and stick to fruits, yogurt, smoothies or other options. This week I've been snacking almost everyday on this huge pineapple. It lasts me so long that I need to freeze most of it, so that it doesn't go bad very fast. I will usually leave a few servings just freshly cut, and the rest I'll place in the frezzer - these I will use for smoothies, which are sooo delicious with a bit of pineapple in there. It definitely satisfies the sweet cravings!

Another habit I'm trying to get into is drinking more water. I found that I would usually drink a glass of water with my meals and that would be about it for the day, which is not even close to the amount of water recommended - especially during summertime. For several months, I've started trying to drink more, but I always have a bit of struggle with it because I sometimes forget to drink enough throughout the day. You know you're supposed to drink 2 l of water every day, that's 8 regular cups....to be honest, I lose track of how many cups I had. So I recently got this 600 ml (20 oz) bottle to keep by my side. It's really nice because you can also throw it in your bag or take it with you when you're running. Basically I try to drink 3 bottles and a half each day to keep hydrated. Do you have any tips of your own for developing such healthy habits? Leave them in the comments below!

  1. I always struggle to drink enough water too and keep trying to make goals to drink more. I'm getting better at drinking warm water in the morning with apple cider vinegar, now I think I need to buy a new water bottle to motivate me to drink more!

  2. I love fresh pineapple! I've found that it's easier to drink more water at a time if it's room temperature instead of cold. :-) Found your blog through the Healthy Habits linkup with Katie Did What!

    1. Yeah me too, if it's too cold I can't drink the whole bottle until it's a bit warmer. I checked out your blog as well, it's so cute! :)

  4. Hi there! I just found your blog though the link up :) I have recently been craving all things pineapple and I love throwing it in my green smoothies. Yum! I have to have my water bottle by my side all day or I will not drink any water... I just never get thirsty! Weird, I know.

    1. I agree, green smoothies with pineapple in them are sooo delicious. And I'm like that as well, I just forget I actually need to drink water if I don't have it in sight. :P

  5. I love pineapple in my smoothies - the sweetness manages to override anything else (I'm looking at you, kale). I need to improve on my water intake as well...thanks for the tip on the bottle!
