Healthy Habits: No Skipping Breakfast

I recently saw Katie from this blog announce that she is going to start a "Healthy Habits" series, which I was very excited to hear! I have been trying for quite a while now to maintain a healthier lifestyle, which of course doesn't always go as planned - I still eat junk food and things like that, but I think for the most part I have a balanced diet (although I'm not trying to lose any weight). So for today's post I will be introducing one of my most important healthy habits: always having breakfast.

The reason why having breakfast is so important is because it regulates your blood sugar and keeps you from excessive snacking or binge eating at other meals throughout the day. In the photo collection above I picked a few of my breakfasts from the "What I Ate Wednesday" series on my youtube channel, just to give you some ideas you could try out. Breakfast doesn't need to take a lot of time to prepare and, as you can tell, my meals contain mostly fruits and vegetables, depending on what I feel like eating. So it will usually be one of the following combinations: eggs with some veggies, greek yogurt-granola-fruit combination, or oatmeal and some fruits.

  3. Yummm all of your breakfasts look AMAZING! I agree- breakfast is SO important! I never skip it! Another habit of mine is drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning. It was hard at first, because it's not my favorite taste first thing, if that makes sense? But I've made it a habit now and it makes me feel so good- great way to start the day!

    Thanks for linking up, girly!

    1. Thank you for holding the linkup! I do the water thing as well, but I sometimes lose track of it throughout the day. It's one thing that I really need to work on!

  4. I eat granola every day unless I decide to go to a restaurant and order a breakfast sandwich which is usually bacon and egg on ciabatta.. I used to eat granola with greek yogurt but I stopped coz I felt yogurt just adds calories and extra sugar. I don't mind my granola dry, esp coz I mix two kinds and it's already sweet - pecan praline and almond chocolate

    1. Those sound like nice combinations. I always have some yogurt or milk with my granola, but I can see how it would still taste good without. :)

  5. I really need to get better at this - I hate eating in the morning, and skip breakfast almost every single day. Making something ahead of time that I can grab and go is probably the best bet for me! I find that if I make juice or smoothies the day before, I'm more likely to drink them on the way to work as a breakfast sub.
I definitely want to make overnight oats at some point too!
Thanks for the reminder that I definitely need to take better care of myself :)

  6. These pictures are making me hungry for "second breakfast" haha! I think this is a great tip - I always eat breakfast and I think that is why my metabolism is still working so well! I even keep instant oatmeal cups in my desk just in case I don't have time to eat before I leave!

Again, I am SO glad I found your blog! :)

  7. These are great ideas. I'm usually not super hungry in the mornings so I bring yogurt and fruit to eat when I get to work. But my "go to"/favourite breakfast to make on weekends or even for dinner is eggs, usually a veggie omelette. :)
