Goodbye, 2012! Hello, 2013!

8:51 AM

I'm quite sure that whenever a new year comes around, everyone is thinking that time goes by unbelievably fast, especially when you start to grow older and older. I'm only 20 and have a full life ahead of me, but I still feel the urge to grab time by its "legs" and hold it down for a bit. Probably this feeling might come from a fear! Yes, a fear! Because I am truly happy where I am right now: I have an amazing family that never ceases to show me their affection, a loving boyfriend, I have the security of a warm home and an interesting career ahead (hopefully!). I am beyond appreciative of all the things I have, but there are moments in each person's life when insecurity makes room in your heart, even though you might not exactly have a solid reason for it.  The blogging world doesn't necessarily put this on display for all the world to see. It is probably a self-preservation kind of thing, no one wants to feel exposed. But behind all the fashionable outfits and beautiful makeup you see on a blog, there are a lot of things you do not get to see. We all have our problems, may it be ones of the heart, financial ones, health ones or even just those small insecurities that make you not feel complete. So I guess what I'm saying is that my biggest resolution for this year is to stay positive, like I always try to do, even when times get rough.

This year I have:
~ Completed my first year of college with good grades and started the second year.
~ Worked as a salesperson in a mall for the summer, which was a lovely experience and gave me the opportunity to meet wonderful people.
~ Moved in with my boyfriend, which was a HUGE change, but I've loved every minute of it.
~ Failed an exam, but managed to make up for it. I was quite disappointed with myself, but managing to get back on my feet was kind of an accomplishment for me.
~ Started to eat healthier and learned to cook a lot more, together with my boyfriend.

2012 was a year with both happy moments and difficult ones, but I've learned to embrace them, as they do become part of our lives, whether we like it or not. I've learned that even when you have a boring time waiting for the bus, or in class (even rhyming a bit for you..haha!), or at an unsatisfying job, you need to try to make the most of it. Because those moments when you are feeling down, or bored, or angry - they are all part of your day, and if you let them be, they'll just take up your time and -I'm pretty sure you know this already- when you look back, you never remember those moments, but the good ones are those that remain in your memory. So just ignore them, and if you haven't last year, this is an opportunity to make the best of the new year that has come.

What were your accomplishments and let-downs of 2012? And what are your resolutions for 2013?
Hope you will have an amazing year!
