Mascara Love: Maybelline Colossal | Review

Hello, everyone! I have been wanting to do this post for such a long time, but kept waiting to be able to take some good shots for it. So now that I got the opportunity, I thought the time has finally come: a review on the Maybelline Colossal Mascara is here! I know this is not a new product on the market, but I have gone through I think about 5 tubes of this, so I figured a review might be in order.

First of all, this mascara is (as you probably already know) a drugstore one, and is definitely one of the best I have tried so far. So, being a drugstore one, it's not really that expensive (although I find that most mascaras are kind of overpriced), costing about 10$. It is a super black color and totally makes your lashes stand out and colors them nicely. The packaging is really neat looking and I honestly think the mascara actually smells a bit like honey - don't worry, though, it's not a persistent scent, you can smell it only in the actual tube. Or maybe only weirdo-me can smell that..haha! :) Let me know if you got that impression as well.

I think the SECRET to applying this mascara is not to wiggle it (using zig-zag motions) as you would normally, but to just slide it from the bottom to the top of your lashes. I say this because, when you wiggle it, it makes the lashes stick together, but if you just apply it straight up on your lashes, it separates them nicely and gives them a lot more volume. It took me a while to figure this out, but now that I have, I really wanted to share this with you.

Here are some photos of how this mascara shows up on your lashes:

In conclusion, I was super impressed when I first tried this and I am definitely going to repurchase this, although I would love to try out the Falsies as well, as I've heard great things about that one too. Let me know if you've tried them and what your thoughts were.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

  2. I've used both the colossal and the falsies, and I liked the colossal better. Less clumpy.
